In our recent survey, students and graduates highlighted the key areas that attracted them to potentially working for a smaller company. 69 per cent of respondents told us that the opportunity to work with senior managers would attract them, along with the chance of having more responsibility in their position. - Provide opportunities for development. Ambitious candidates want to keep learning, either through in-house training and/or externally. Recognise that they may require some flexibility to allow them time to study and learn.
- Get sociable. Nowadays, you’re a no-body if you’re not online. Create a social media platform- or, if you already have one, utilise it and engage with your audience. Being online means you can teach, show case, update and communicate with your audience. Having this presence can also convey the character and style of your business, so that graduates can understand what it would be like to work for you.

- Give them responsibility. Finally, a way of attracting a graduate to a smaller business is to give them a sense of responsibility. Graduates want to feel they will have a real impact in the business, so let describe the responsibilities in the job description.
